There will be music from morning to night at Holy Trinity Church, Link Top, Malvern on Saturday 25 June 2016 at its Ten Hour Music Day. With three very different events during the day, there will be something for everyone’s tastes and budgets.
Starting the day at 11.30 a.m. is a Young Performers’ Café; it is an informal concert and admission is free. People can come and go as they like, buy coffee or a light lunch, listen to music – whether classical, jazz or pop – all in a very relaxed atmosphere. Proceeds from this part of the day will go towards the Dyson Perrins Youth Chaplaincy Project
After an hour’s break, Vocal Variations – which attracts solo singers from across the West Midlands – perform “Songs of Charms” at 2.00 p.m. Again people can come and go as they like, admission is free and light refreshments will be available towards the end of the two-hour session.
Then there will be a couple of hours of rehearsing in preparation for the day’s climax which is the Gala Concert, starting at 7.30 p.m. and finishing at 9.30 p.m. Malvern Male Voice Choir will open the evening and are joined by Holy Trinity’s own Junior Choir. Contrasting the singing will be classical guitarist Jon Godfrey and The Neil Hide Guitar Duo – same instruments but very different styles! Tickets – which include interval refreshments cost £10 (18s and under FREE) and can be purchased in advance by phoning 01684 561126; any remaining will be available on the door.
Commenting on this musical marathon, Charles Pavey, who is musical director of the day, said: “all the performers, whether soloists or choirs, have been working towards this day for some time and it will be an glorious event of music-making just after the longest day of the year. Despite the distance some performers will be travelling, almost all of them have performed in Holy Trinity before and this will be a real coming together of a huge variety of music…and, for much of the day, people will be able to just pop in and hear what is going on.”
