Chris Lewis-Farley, one of Malvern Male Voice Choir’s second tenors took part in the three peaks yacht race earlier this year. The race, regarded as one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious adventure races, is a gruelling challenge that involves climbing the UK’s three highest peaks, while travelling from one to the other by sailing boat.
Chris was part of team Rio, a five man team comprised of two runners and three yachtsmen. Chris, together with another runner were ably transported on board Dutch yacht J-Quattro through 389 miles of demanding coastal sailing.
For the runners, the challenge was to leap off the boat at Caernarvon, Whitehaven and Fort William and run or cycle up and down Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis. They covered approximately 60 miles of running and 40 miles of cycling. This included 14,000 feet of ascent overall. Despite fierce competition, Chris and team Rio finished in first place. A fantastic result.
