10 years of fundraising together: Malvern Male Voice Choir and Cancer Research UK

Malvern Male Voice Choir would like to thank Ray Worth and the Local Committee of Cancer Research UK for inviting them to perform this annual concert to support the charity and raise vital funds.

On Saturday the 18th April at St Edmunds Hall, College Road, Malvern a large audience filled the hall to mark the 10 years partnership with Cancer Research UK. The Choir sang the best of musical hits, a welsh trilogy, music from the era of the Two World Wars and with some lighter musical moments with audience participation. Sharing the stage were The Nearly Ten Tenors Barbershop Group from the Chase Technology College who performed well-known songs from the sixties and eighties. The Choir’s new accompanist Tim Sidford is a very accomplished violinist as well as a pianist and at 15, he reached the BBC Young Musicians Semi Final and has also been chosen to perform for HM The Queen. Tim performed some much-loved classical hits to great acclaim. The Choir was also pleased to welcome back Emma Burrows a local soprano who entertained us with well known classical and musical hits.

Charles Pavey, the Choir’s Musical Director was quoted as saying: “The St Edmund’s Hall concert for Cancer Research UK is one of the regular highlights in Malvern Male Voice Choir’s year and we are very proud to be celebrating ten years since we started working regularly with this very important charity. The Choir has a very strong relationship with the local committee of this charity and having the opportunity to promote it has been of great significance for both the Choir and me personally.”

Cancer Research UK, the worlds leading cancer research charity relies entirely on public financial support, receiving no funding from central government. The local arm is one of over 900 groups from around the country and has raised in excess of £500,000 since 1962.

The date for the next concert in aid of Cancer Research UK has now been confirmed as 16th April 2016 (see our ‘Forthcoming Concerts’ page), and we look forward to adding new repertoire and celebrating 11 years of fundraising together!
